When is a child old enough not to need a babysitter? What considerations do parents need to make regarding the duties of a babysitter? Author Vanessa Van Petten’s article, “Babysitters, Nanny’s and House Keepers Oh My,” encourages parents to consider babysitting roles beyond the normal duties of watching children.

Ok, first of all, how good is that title? You know, its like my friend Dorothy said, “lions, tigers and bears oh my!” Get it?! I am always proud when I can be creative even in my titles! OK, onto the serious business and advice.
Do Teens Need Babysitters? (This was my alternate title.)
This is a question I get asked a lot and it is important to think about the role that babysitters, nannies, housekeepers, tutors and coaches play in your kids lives. For the purpose of the article I am going to call these types of people support staff.
I think hiring a support staff for your teens is a great idea for a variety of reasons (even if you might not need extra help).
